“Careful, Stephen. This path exacts a heavy toll.”
This week, we’re entering a new dimension of Strange to celebrate the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! Doctor Strange traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Join us as we journey into the unknown with Bob, Nestor, and Robert!
Name: Bob Location: Michigan, US Inspiration: I made this pic to play with the bright primary colors of Dr Strange and his otherworldly cosmic powers. Dr Strange has always been an inspirational character to me as a hero whose powers derive from knowledge rather than physical characteristics.
Name: Nestor Location: Florida Inspiration: My inspiration at the time came from Avengers Infinity War. I wanted the cape and his mystical powers to be the main attraction to this picture and give him a hovering/floating effect.
Name: Robert Location: Colorado, US Inspiration: Honestly I just wanted to capture Dr. Strange doing cool magic stuff. This figure really executes that every time you hold him in your hands.
“You see, Jason was my son, and today is his birthday.”
Since this week’s Fan Feature Friday is #101, we figured we’d give you an introductory course on how to survive the unluckiest day of the year – Friday the 13th! Things you’ll want to avoid: summer camps, lakes, cabins, woods, mirrors, salt, bumps in the night, ladders, black cats, hockey masks, psychotic mothers looking to avenge their sons…are we forgetting anything?
Jason Voorhees is slashing his way into the spotlight this week, so let’s take a look at the killer work of Ben, Tanvir, and Johnny.
Ki ki ki, ma ma ma…
Name: Ben Location: Scotland Inspiration: I’ve loved this figure since I set eyes on him and I knew then that I had to have him and make the picture a banger.
Name: Tanvir Location: New York, US Inspiration: The initial idea was from the comics “Freddy vs Jason vs Ash” for a private collab with some of my closest friends. Since the whole comic event took place in a city back in 2008, I wanted to create a rooftop fight scene where Jason Voorhees looked almost victorious over our hero Ash Williams.
Name: Johnny Location: England Inspiration: I’ve always loved the iconic slasher movies and what better way to recreate one of my favourite characters is Jason Voorhees waiting insidiously for a moment as he’s stalking his prey.
Arachnophobes, look away! This week’s Fan Feature Friday is crawling with spiders…
Who better to protect the streets of New York City than Queens-native, Spider-Man! You know, the webhead in the red and blue suit. Or the blue and red suit. Or the black suit. Or the black and red su–wait…there’s how many?!
Swing into the Spider-Verse with us once more and take a look at the work of Luke, Rudy, Firman, Nicholas and Erik.
If you haven’t already, check out our new Amazing Spider-Man – Deluxe Edition brimming with all-new web accessories, multiple head portraits, and light-up eyes!
Name: Luke Location: United Kingdom Inspiration: My inspiration for this scene was the Spider-Verse. I wanted to have Spidey 2099 leading his own team of Spideys into battle! …..how many times can you say spider-man related stuff in a paragraph before it gets too much?…..NEVER! There’s never enough Spider-Man!
Name: Rudy Location: Indonesia Inspiration: The story behind my pic is, I tried to recreate the symbiote Spiderman cover art. In my opinion, Mezco symbiote Spiderman has the amazing detail and comic look to make the art cover recreation…so I made it …
Name: Firman Location: Indonesia Inspiration: I was inspired by Cyberpunk’s style, because Spiderman 2099 from the future, I showed as if Spiderman was in action in a future city
Name: Nicholas Location: Rhode Island, US Inspiration: Inspiration from the photo actually came from me looking through my old Vs cards! The game had some beautiful images.
Name: Erik Location: Mississippi, US Inspiration: For this image, I wanted to create a dark and moody vibe to compliment Spider-Man’s Symbiote Costume.
Hero this, savior that…yawn! Where’s the love for the bad guys?!We love seeing the hero win as much as the next guy, but we also love seeing the hellbent villain they need to defeat in order to get there. So we’re spicing things up this week with some of the biggest baddies of the bunch! Purple aliens, vampires, dream demons…you know, standard stuff.
Scroll on and check out some familiar villainous faces, featuring the work of Shawn, Mr. Lee and Brendan.
Name: Shawn Location: Texas, US Inspiration: I tried to make this shot creepy and dramatic like the old silent films. These figures make it easy to accomplish them poses! Honestly, inspiration comes from music most the time! Inspiration music: Devin Townsend Band- Vampira
Name: Mrleeee Location: Taiwan Inspiration: I trying to using the most simple way to capture all details in Darkseid and Thanos.
Name: Brendan
Location: Australia
Inspiration: I love horror, and experimenting with theatrical lighting. When I got my hands on this Freddy figure I knew he was perfect for some ooky, spooky photography. His smiling head is simultaneously fun, but also very sinister. As Freddy should be!
A peril-packed story unfolds as the World’s Greatest Detective sets his sights on Two-Face, fallen district attorney and criminal mastermind. The odds are two to one but in whose favor?
This week, we’re traveling back to the Golden Age and showcasing the work of Rob, Simon, Jesse, Edwin, and Jason.
Will our hero bring justice to Gotham or will Two-Face put an end to the Caped Crusader once and for all? Scroll on and find out!
Name: Rob Location: Georgia, US Inspiration: These two figures look like they jumped right out of Dick Sprang’s Golden Age era comic art. I wanted to create a scene that looked like a comic panel, but instead of a comic impact effect, I decided to try money as an effect instead! Two-Face is a bank robbery after all!
Name: Simon Location: Texas, US Inspiration: This is your classic high octane villain busting action! I wanted to highlight the beautiful colors of these figures that excellently capture the simplicity of the golden era of comics.
Name: Jesse Location: California, US Inspiration: So the inspiration behind this shot was just a retro comic panel, I wanted to capture the campiness and fun of a classic golden era Batman comic but at the same time show some action!
Name: Edwin Location: Pennsylvania, US Inspiration: My inspiration for this photo comes from the classic literature of The Batman saga. When shooting this photo I was instantly taken back in time to when Crime fighting wasn’t just fancy moves and insane stunts. A simple chase scene would have you on the edge of your seat!
Name: Jason Location: New Mexico, US Inspiration: I wanted to create a scene that reflected the Golden Age time period from which these character designs were derived from. This is such a great two-pack and I really wanted showcase how fantastic these figures truly are.
Welcome to the first Collector Spotlight – a regularly irregular interview with a fellow Mezco collector where we ask a bunch of nosey questions and get a sneak peek at what’s hoggin’ the most space on their shelves.
In this edition of Collector Spotlight, Nikolas (@nikstoypics) takes us to a galaxy far, far away (West Valley City, Utah) to show off his impressive collection. Read on and dive into Nikolas’ psyche!
Q: Pop culture drives so much of the collectible world, what is your favorite pop culture genre? A: My favorite pop culture genre is sci-fi, I love how much creativity there can be across different time periods and other galaxies. I love how big the sci-fi genre is and especially since Star Wars has been such a big part of my life, I love everything sci-fi!
Q: Who is your favorite superhero? A: Spiderman because he taught me to push beyond my limits.
Q: What is your favorite movie of all time? A: Pulp Fiction because it has amazing writing and an incredible story, the end is the beginning and the beginning is actually the end, and the middle is the actual end, just brilliant story telling!
Q: If you could switch lives with any fictional character for a day, who would you choose? A: Superman because I would love to fly around and help people!
Q: When did you first start collecting and what was the first figure you remember seeking out? A: I started collecting after my first big haul of figures and the one I remember seeking out was the new Black Series Stormtrooper, I went to 3 different Targets for it.
Q: What inspired you to start collecting? A: Justin’s Collection actually, his collection is so massive and I hope to have something like that one day.
Q: Does your collection have a theme? If so, what is it? A: The theme I guess is the three types of media I like most – Star Wars, Marvel, and DC.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of being a collector? A: Getting a figure and being connected to it and being able to share my collection with others in the community.
Q: What was your first One:12 Collective figure? A: My first Mezco figure was Thor from Thor: Ragnarok.
Q: What is your favorite One:12 Collective figure and why? A: My favorite is probably the Christopher Reeve Superman because it does his Superman so much justice and because he’s my favorite Superman.
Q: What is your grail figure? A: My current grail figure would be the Episode 3 Obi Wan Kenobi by Hot Toys.
Q: Any advice you’d like to offer to new collectors? A: Budget, budget, budget! Pick up what you want but not something you’ll regret and want to get rid of down the line, pick things up you’ll want to keep.
Welcome to Customizer’s Corner – an intermittent highlight of the creativity and originality of the collectible community. To all the tinkerers, fiddlers, and tamperers, this one’s for you!
There’s pride in personalization and the idea of having something unique, a one-of-one. And who better to represent “unique” than an inter-dimensional, humanoid roach?
Scroll on to check out the work of Bryan, Quinn, and Ben and see how they put their own spin on everyone’s favorite Insecta-sapien of Mystery, Gomez.
Name: Bryan Location: Washington, US Inspiration: Always loved the Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video. I had some fabric that resembled the leather jacket and wanted to make a whole Thriller look for Gomez.
Name: Quinn Location: Utah, US Inspiration: When I came up with this picture I thought of Gomez breaking into some research style facility to get revenge on those who had done him wrong. I thought I’d him taking the heads as a sort of check list to make sure he got everyone he was after.
Name: Ben Location: China Inspiration: This custom was simply to try my best to create a unique Gomez that stood out. I kit bashed Mezco Jason’s upper body into this figure with drawings of tattoos on it to create an image of a fierce samurai Gomez.
Unless you live in a coffin or on the depths of the ocean floor, you’d know the Pink Skulls caused a bit of chaos on our social media channels earlier this week. They’re last request before heading to rehearsals was that we feature “their good side”, so we’re here to oblige. Plus, Numpty Dumpty has been stuck in our head for 3 days now…
You know ’em, you (probably) love ’em, so let’s give a round of applause to Bonez II Men err…the Pink Skulls Chaos Club, as shot by Wesley, Chris, J.M, and Mark!
Name: Wesley Location: California, US Inspiration: The PSCC sort of does all the heavy lifting in the inspiration department. They’re easily the most expressive figures I own, so shooting them is always a blast. With this shot, I really wanted to showcase a more sinister side to them. Almost a recruitment poster that says “Join us, or else.” Plus I’ll take any excuse to hit these guys with colorful lights.
Name: Chris Location: Maine, US Inspiration: Just the Skulls themselves and I guess the English punk rockers that they are based on. I just picture them getting in fights behind a bar somewhere while punk rock plays in the background.
Name: J.M Location: New York, US Inspiration: Pulling inspiration from The Warriors, I wanted to show what it would look like if you ran into the Pink Skulls in a dark alley. The Skulls already have so much personality it was just a matter of nailing the poses. Shout-Out to @matchutoy for picking these up and always pushing me to make my photos the best they can be. I kept the lighting simple, added a few pieces to set the scene, and did a long exposure to really capture all the detail.
Name: Mark Location: California, US Inspiration: My inspiration really comes from the videos you guys post. You can really feel the personality of these guys and it’s so fun getting shots of them.
The Rumble City art gallery is open for business! This critically acclaimed space features the latest and greatest in fine Rumbler art. Don’t believe us? Here’s some glowing reviews:
⭐️⭐️ “Someone nicked my wallet.” – Baron
⭐️ “That place had an infestation. I swear I saw a roach on a skateboard.” – Pepper
For this week’s Fan (Art) Feature Friday, we’re giving you a mini tour of our newest pieces from artists Jake, Thistle, Pawel, Rickie, Drew, and Bill!
Gogh on and scroll…you know you want to…
Name: Jake Location: Maine, US Inspiration: Just when we thought Mezco couldn’t top the vivacious Vapor, they give the kid from Queens the ultimate makeover with Burner Edition. Get your oven mitts, cause this thing is HOT! I had a blast taking my original and inverting the color scheme for this release.
Name: ThislteCrow.art Location: Albany, US Inspiration: Gomez is a busy guy. I wanted to catch him in a chill moment. He seems the type that would dismantle one of Pink Skulls and then stop for a quick smoke. To be fair, I don’t think Boom Boom minds being his seat for a few minutes, either. ❤️😆
Name: Pawel Location: Poland Inspiration: I just love good figures and good design – and everything about Rumble Society screams just that. Pink Skulls are my favorites.
Name: Rickie Location: North Carolina, US Inspiration: My original inspiration was that you guys are my favorite toy company due to having unique toys that have brought me the most joy out of any toy company. I had just received a doc noc figure and figured I’ll draw him. I’m a tattoo artist and love skulls!
Name: Drew Location: California, US Inspiration: As for inspiration behind the photo, I did this as part of a short photo series of Gomez hopping through different punk album covers trying to find the mighty & elusive Mossquatch.. so of course I had to do one showcasing one of the best albums of all time, Rancid’s ‘And Out Come The Wolves’!
Name: Bill Location: New Hampshire, US Inspiration: Inspired by Atticus Doom’s adventures in The Necroverse. Clawing out clues for a cold case in the void with nothing but a Nebulous Claw and a smile.
Welcome back to Collector Spotlight – a regularly irregular interview with a fellow Mezco collector where we pick their brain and find out what’s occupying their shelves.
In this edition of Collector Spotlight, we’re taking a bite out of the Big Apple with fellow New Yorker, Kyle (@k00lectibles), who gives us a tour of his incredible collection. Read on and get to know Kyle!
Q: Pop culture drives so much of the collectible world, what is your favorite pop culture genre? A: It’s gotta be superheroes because who doesn’t love people fighting in cool costumes while the good guys win? (Well, most of the time.)
Q: Who is your favorite superhero? A: Spider-Man hands down. I love how he’s just a blue collar guy at the end of the day who tries his best to go above and beyond. His backstory makes him grounded and I think a lot of people see a part of themselves in him, except the whole gaining powers from a radioactive spider situation.
Q: What is your favorite movie of all time? A: This is a tough one for me! Since I love Spider-Man, I’m going to say Spider-Man 2. I love Sam Raimi’s take on the character. I love Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. And as a New Yorker, I love how they portray NYC. In my honest opinion it’s a perfect superhero, and overall great, movie.
Q: If you could switch lives with any fictional character for a day, who would you choose? A: I’d switch places with Star Lord so I could explore the cosmos with my friends while listening to awesome tunes.
Q: When did you first start collecting and what was the first figure you remember seeking out? A: Technically I started collecting when I was four. I had just seen Star Wars and was begging my parents for a stormtrooper figure because I just thought they looked so cool. One night my dad came home from work with one and I was hooked.
Q: What inspired you to start collecting? A: I fell out collecting as a teenager because I had a lot of other things on my mind – girls. But The Avengers is what inspired me to start collecting again as an adult. I left the theater in awe and it only made me want to reconnect with my nerdy side. The following day I went to a local toy store and bought the Future Foundation Spider-Man Marvel Legend and ten years later I’m still going strong.
Q: Does your collection have a theme? If so, what is it? A: I collect a handful of different properties (mostly Marvel, Star Wars, DC, GI Joe, and Rumble Society) but I guess you could say the theme is they’re all 1/12 scale. I’m very strict about that. That way they can all play together when I take photos.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of being a collector? A: Being a collector has added an extra layer of fun to my life. From looking out for new toy/comic shops on vacation, to opening up figures on holidays, it gives me a child-like sense of excitement. That’s hard to come by as an adult.
Q: What was your first One:12 Collective figure? A: My first One:12 figure was Batman Beyond. By the time I decided I wanted it, it was waitlisted. I added myself to the list regardless then one day a few months later, I checked my email and received a shipping notification out of the blue. It was a very pleasant surprise and one that lead to many more figures.
Q: What is your favorite One:12 Collective figure and why? A: I’m going to go with Stealth Ops Gomez. The amount of accessories he comes with makes it feel like a dozen figures in one. Also since I preorder most of my figures online nowadays, it felt special to get him in person from the Mezco booth at NYCC.
Q: What is your grail figure? A: My grail figure is one that hasn’t even been made yet to my knowledge. I really want someone to tackle a highly articulated Knightfall Bane. I always loved his Luchador look over the hyper muscly monster version, and I feel like a lot of Bane figures already out there cover the latter.
Q: Any advice you’d like to offer to new collectors? A: Embrace it! When I started collecting again as an adult, I definitely felt a little awkward standing on checkout lines with toys, but I wasn’t going to let that prevent me from doing what I loved. Plus you’d be surprised by how many people think it’s cool.
