FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #107 – SPECIAL EFFECTS EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #107 - SPECIAL EFFECTS EDITION

Sometimes a photo just needs a little somethin’ extra. An explosion here, some embers there, or an outer space background can make all the difference.

This week, we’re giving the spotlight to photographers that like to turn it up a notch. To the Photoshop and Lightroom wizards, this one’s for you!

Get ready to ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ as you scroll on to check out the special effects work of Nick, Jose and Jason.

Name: Nick
Location: Colorado, US
Inspiration: The lighting style and pose were inspired by film directors Guillermo Del Toro and Zack Snyder. Guillermo has an amazing way of using colors in his movies that create a signature style of his own.  His work in Pacific Rim has been my go-to.  As for Zack, I probably watched BvS way too much lol, but the idea came from the scene at the end when Batman and Wonder Woman stand over Superman’s body. The overall concept was inspired by the current state of my life.  Thanks to my faith, I believe God armors me with the ability to walk through fire and embers in order to overcome the chaos or obstacles along the way.  This figure has such epic details and quality that I’m able to capture this feeling in combination of lighting and digital painting for effects.

Name: Jose
Location: Mexico
Inspiration: What inspired me in the photo was the original trailer when they announced this Krig and I thought of recreating something similar as if the Gomez casino was missing from his list to hunt and he goes for it

Name: Jason
Location: New, Mexico, US
Inspiration: I wanted to showcase Miguel’s gliding abilities so I posed him as if he just jumped off one of the many skyscrapers that line the streets of Nueva York! The fabric of the suit really catches the light just right! He’s definitely one of my favorite figures!

Don’t be a Secondary Market Sucka! Zip up your leather jacket, lace up your bovver boots, and check out these badass pics from Charlie, Jey, Jon and Kevin!🤘

Name: Charlie
Location: New York, US
Inspiration: The moment I heard about this Gig From Hell set coming I immediately started on a stage diorama for them! Inspired by the New York Punk/Hardcore scene of the 70’s and 80’s. It was a wild time and the PSCC are just that! MOSH IT UP! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Name: Jey
Location: Florida, US
Inspiration: The inspiration behind the photo was to mainly represent Miami Dade County a.k.a 305, also because I was having so much fun with the skull figures and just wanted to take pictures of them 😬

Name: Jon
Location: Texas, US
Inspiration: These figures totally embody that old school punk rock attitude. You can pose them doing just about anything and they look like they’re up to no good. So I set them up like they’re playing a gig and let them do their thing.

Name: Kevin
Location: France
Inspiration:  As a big fan of metal and punk music, those 3 punks figures inspired me a lot of fun. I always wanted to make a concert shot with toys, the PSCC release was the best opportunity to make it real. After a few beers with the punks, I’ve found a cool and dynamic pose for each one, turned the colorful lights on and made the shot ! HELLYEAH 🤘💀

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #109 – WOLVERINE EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #109 - WOLVERINE EDITION

“I’m the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn’t very nice.”

Self-healing, Adamantium claws, mutant with a temper…ringin’ any bells? From the northern wilderness of Canada hails one of the gruffest, most irascible, totally cynical, and brooding member of the X-Men ever to grace the team with his presence – WOLVERINE!

Scroll on and check out some sharp shots by Josh, Gary, Jeff, Scott & Ian! Oh and mind your step, there’s Sentinel parts all over the floor…

Name: Josh
Location: California, US
Inspiration:  I did this shot of Wolverine charging through a wall as I felt it reflected the character he is and how he doesn’t care what he is up against and that he’ll give it his all.

Name: Gary
Location: N/A
Inspiration: After posing this new Tiger Stripe Wolverine, from Mezco, I wanted to take a photo that captured the expressiveness of the figure, its articulation and the amazing Sentinel diorama, that came with it.  I have multiple Wolverines from various lines, but this figure has become my definitive Wolverine figure.

Name: Jeff
Location: Texas, US
Inspiration: As far as inspiration for the image goes, it’s really the figure itself that inspired me. As soon as I opened the box and took Wolverine out, I just wanted to take pictures of it!

Name: Scott
Location: West Virginia, US
Inspiration: Ever since first seeing the box set I knew I wanted to use the classic Wolverine sculpt. When I saw the removable Sentinel eye I knew that the first image had to have Wolverine staring it down, mutant vs machine.

Name: Ian
Location: Tennessee, US
Inspiration: I was inspired by the diorama base to create this image. I loved all the detail and the claw marks covering the sentinels body and the fact that it has a removable eye. The idea in my head was to have Wolverine dealing the final blow as the eye was flying towards the camera. Couldn’t quite pull off what was in my head, but the results speak for themselves I guess.

Customizer’s Corner Vol. 2

Customizer's Corner Vol. 2

.

Welcome back to Customizer’s Corner –  an intermittent highlight of the creativity and originality of the collectible community.

This time, we’re highlighting the custom backgrounds and dioramas that are vital to a good photo. An effective background sets the scene and adds to the story. Cable on his own is cool, but Cable breaking through concrete walls? Badass!

Scroll on to see the work of Jorge, Steven, and Juan and see how they brought their subjects to life with some awesome display pieces.

Name: Jorge
Location: Spain
Inspiration: The photo is about Father and son, Master and apprentice. A gift, the transfer of wisdom and  honor. Also, the moment when the apprentice becomes worthy.

Name: Steven
Location: United Kingdom
Inspiration: The inspiration behind the photo was to capture Vapor looking mean and fearless as he strolls thru a cold, seedy bad part of town late at night. Trouble could come his way any minute, but he’s ready for anything! I wanted to show the figure in a confident swagger and the environment to seem dirty and realistic. I hoped to capture that the mean streets are where he belongs and this is his environment.

Name: Juan
Location: Chicago, US
Inspiration: Inspiration for the photo : I was just trying to do this great looking figure some justice. I enjoy making Dioramas for 1/12 action figures and thought this one would be perfect for Cable. Also ,seeing others in the toy community taking such great pictures with these incredible Mezco One:12 made me want to give it a shot.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #110 – ERADICATOR HORNET EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #110 - ERADICATOR HORNET EDITION

Hold on to your SM9 Integrated Units, we’re heading into the far reaches of space this week as we give the spotlight to none other than the Eradicator Hornet!

Rising from the aftermath of a brutal battle with his brothers and assimilating special Murder Hornet attributes, the Black Spartan is reborn as The Eradicator Hornet!

Scroll on to check out the (inter)stellar work of Nick, Lizzy & Jorge!

Name: Nick
Location: New Jersey, US
Inspiration: The inspiration behind this photo was the full out Sci-Fi nature of my first ever Mezco Krig figure! I knew the deep blacks of the figure would contrast well with the oranges and the purples and there would be no way I could not have him in flight!

Name: Lizzy
Location: Arizona, US
Inspiration: This figure is perfect for a lone ranger vibe. This is a character that is mysterious and doesn’t take no for an answer. Who knows where he is coming from or where he is going, but one thing for sure… stay out of his way.

Name: Jorge
Location: Texas, US
Inspiration: The toy armor looks so cool so my goal was to try and capture the most I could of it while making it look as threatening as possible.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #111 – TEAMMATE EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #111 - TEAMMATE EDITION

Sometimes, even the biggest heroes need a little help!

This week, we’re giving the spotlight to teammates – those who are great on their own but even better in a group! You know what they say…four fists are better than two! Or something like that…

Join us as we take a scroll and check out the work of Kris, Steve, Daniel, and Adam!

Name: Kris
Location: Canada
Inspiration:  Inspired by the good ol’ days of rap! Been having so much fun with the new PSCC set, I love the idea of Vapor joining them onstage to tear it up! They all have so much attitude, it seemed like a perfect pairing.

Name: Steve
Location: Indonesia
Inspiration: Doc Nocturnal and Atticus Doom doing night patrol, ready for rumble! I think these two look great together, so I just want to showcase them in one frame.

Name: Daniel
Location: New York, US
Inspiration: My inspiration was basically wanting to do something simple but cool by using  one of my favorite trios from the X-Men looking bad ass over a destroyed Sentinel.

Name: Adam
Location: Georgia, US
Inspiration: My inspiration for this photo comes from being apart of the music scene a couple years back. The PSCC “Gig From Hell” set resonates with me on so many levels. The details in the sculpts and accessories give me endless ideas to create that rockstar life and get that creative feeling to write and play music again. They are such a blast!

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #112 – COMIC BOOK HEROES EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #112 - COMIC BOOK HEROES EDITION

WHAM! BAM! POW!

This week, we’re taking part in #FlashbackFriday and journeying back to where it all started – comic books! Before the heroes that you know and love were on the silver screen, they lived between paper pages in numerous volumes of comics.

Check out how Mike, Rob, Dakota, Luke & Lin captured some of your favorite heroes sporting their more classic comic looks below!

Name: Mike
Location: Canada
Inspiration: My inspiration from this shot came from some Daredevil artwork I was looking at online.   I changed the angle and added rain effects to make it my own!

Name: Rob
Location: Pennsylvania, US
Inspiration:  I have always been a huge fan of Green Lantern and Aquaman! I wanted to showcase how beautiful these two look by showcasing them while trying to capture as much detail as possible.

Name: Dakota
Location: Illinois, US
Inspiration: I loved the 90’s Wolverine style and have always wanted a figure like this. I just love seeing him screaming in a forest after tearing through 100 bad guys.

Name: Luke
Location: United Kingdom
Inspiration: For this image, I wanted to get up close and personal with everybody’s favourite speedster. I wanted to show the flash really enjoying his powers. For the background, I really wanted to try and match the colours of the flash so it would create a striking image.

Name: Lin
Location: Myanmar
Inspiration: I wanted to show Aquaman is in an underwater, add some bubble effect to make the photo look more realistic and edited the photo look a little cinematic colour tone as well.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #113 – COMIC BOOK VILLAINS EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #113 - COMIC BOOK VILLAINS EDITION

“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…”

Every hero needs a villain so it’s only right that we follow up last week’s Fan Feature Friday with a big batch of baddies!

Straight from the printed pages of your favorite comics, these evildoers do a lot more than just look badass. They blow stuff up, wipe out half the population, have an unquenchable thirst for power…you know, normal bad guy stuff!

Check out how Marc, Joe, Rendy, Seth, & Scott captured some of your favorite villains sporting their more classic comic looks below!

Name: Marc
Location: N/A
Inspiration: My inspiration for this figure was the Victorian Era Joker in the mindset of Jack the Ripper.  As an unpredictable and very complicated homicidal maniac, I envision that he would likely have performed his own insane experiments on unsuspecting victims. With the expression face Mezco option he greets onlookers with a welcomed creepy smile and says “Please, join us”. I take pride in being able to use these figures with practical effects without photoshop.

Name: Joe
Location: France
Inspiration: For this photo, I wanted to Red Skull with some kind of a special team in the background. Mezco’s Doc Noc with his gas mask came in handy! I always thought this One:12 Collective version of Red Skull head sculpt had a Mike Mignola feel to it, with very angular features. I wanted to highlight this aspect with the lighting and have a simple yet iconic shot, with even Red Skull standing with one boot on Captain America’s shield. I call this photo Red Skull Triumphant.

Name: Rendy
Location: Indonesia
Inspiration: My inspiration is chaos begins when two faces act!

Name: Seth
Location: Louisiana, US
Inspiration: The inspiration was from the infinity war posters and movie scenes and a few comic book references.

Name: Scott
Location: N/A
Inspiration: My inspiration for this shot was to capture Catwoman prowling Gotham’s streets at night and to create a really narrow scene with a house she is looking to enter. This figure is such a stunning piece and heavily reminds me of an Arkham City Catwoman, one of my favorite Batman stories ever.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #114 – BATMAN EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #114 - BATMAN EDITION

“I wear a mask. And that mask, it’s not to hide who I am, but to create what I am.”

Everyday is Batman Day in our eyes but we’re starting the official Batman Day festivities a little early and giving the Caped Crusader the spotlight this week.

The Dark Knight is an exceptional escape artist, master of martial arts, acrobat, scientist, criminologist…and the list goes on! He’s vengeance. He’s night. He’s Batman!

Scroll on and check out The Bat as captured by Lin, Pongchai, Davy & Luke!

Keep an eye out tomorrow, September 17th, for our #BatmanDay Giveaway where you could win a One:12 Collective Batman Prize Pack including Golden Age Batman vs Two-Face Boxed Set, Golden Age Batman: Caped Crusader Edition, and Batman: Supreme Knight!

Name: Lin
Location: Myanmar
Inspiration: Batman has always been my favorite superhero. In this shot I was referencing a scene from the Batman movie (subway station fight scene). Which was Batman’s first appearance in the movie. I changed the pose to holding the batarang instead of punching bad guys.

Name: Pongchai
Location: Thailand
Inspiration: I like Sovereign knight px’s design and wanted to try how it looks when it become to black color. I bash up with Sovereign knight and take a photo in the basic pose, inspired from the official showcase photo.

Name: Davy
Location: Indonesia
Inspiration: Protector of Gotham, I wanted to portray Batman above the justice statue in-front of flame/chaos. Batman stands out to protect!

Name: Luke
Location: United Kingdom
Inspiration: For this image I really just wanted to capture the epicness that is The Batman! So I decided on a close up portrait picture of this amazing guy!
