FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #123 – HOLIDAY EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #123 - HOLIDAY EDITION

The snow is falling, the Rumblers are brawling, and Eddi & Bella are passed out on the couch before noon. It can only mean one thing…the holidays are here!

There’s only a few rules at The Void’s annual holiday dinner – keep Grub away from the fire place, the kitchen utensils, the kitchen appliances, Bella, the neighbors, the electrical outlets, and your wallet. See? Only a few!

Scroll on and check out this festive, XL edition of Fan Feature Friday featuring the work of Chris, Jose, Joey, Steven, and Ross.

Not festive enough? Check out our Happy Holidays 2022 video featuring some faces you know and love…or tolerate.

Name: Chris (@neptune.bay)
Location: US
Inspiration: I wanted to do a Mezco Christmas photo so I gathered up my accessories and the 1:12 Christmas Tree my wife made for my Mezco setup. I couldn’t decide if I wanted a Christmas morning, opening presents look, or a “just put up the Christmas tree” look so I went with a hybrid. Maybe they just put up the tree and turned on the lights, or maybe it’s Christmas morning and they’re getting ready to open presents, I leave that up to the viewer.

Name: Jose (@josebalderastoys)
Location: Mexico
Inspiration: My inspiration for this photo was more than anything for the Christmas story and wanting to do something for these holidays

Name: Joey (@proham116)
Location: Pennsylvania, US
Inspiration:  My inspiration for this photo is. There’s so much going on in the world right now, I’m hoping everyone can relax and enjoy the holidays with the ones you love. Even with that crazy cuzin that comes uninvited 😂

Name: Steven (@toymazingphotos)
Location: Utah, US
Inspiration: The inspiration for the photo was Christmas with Holiday Gomez. Since last Christmas, I wanted to do a shot with these figures and never had a plan. I first set the shot up with Holiday Gomez and his little buddy relaxing in the chair for a little family photo. After I took the shot, I decided that Cousin Eddi needed to drop by and join in on the family festivities. There was no better way to have him join in on the fun than to have him doing Cousin Eddi things.

Name: Ross (@docfigmanchu)
Location: United Kingdom
Inspiration:  I just wanted to have something more like a classic Christmas card image. Who wouldn’t want a rumble society Christmas card?

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #124 – CONSTANTINE EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #124 - CONSTANTINE EDITION

“Ordinary people, they operate within a certain set of parameters, right? Rules. Limits. Then there’s blokes like me, yeah? We cheat.”

We’ve all got skeletons in our closet but this guy takes the cake! Cynic, con man, and sorcerer, John Constantine is known for doing whatever it takes to get the job done, with a moral compass as gray as the London skies. He’s not exactly known for his glowing personality but when it comes to the occult, he’s the best investigator there is!

Let’s exorcise these demons with the help of Edwin, Alberto, Rob, & Mike!

Name: Edwin (@ectogonzo)
Location: Pennsylvania, US
Inspiration: When I was preparing to capture this image I could picture Constantine just finishing up an exorcism and this would be his way of winding down afterwards. A fitting end to a horror filled day

Name: Alberto (@noirkaiserfx)
Location: Florida, US
Inspiration: I wanted to portray John in the aftermath of an alleyway brawl with a demon. Used the severed head accessory from Death Dealer and rats from Nosferatu to liven up the scene. Low light shot to keep it dark and grimy.

Name: Rob (@figurebattles)
Location: Georgia, US
Inspiration: The goal of the shot was to have an ominous and supernatural presence that appears to weigh heavily on Constantine. Not even his vices can provide escape from the spirits that haunt him.

Name: Mike (@filthy.yoda)
Location: N/A
Inspiration:  I’ve always enjoyed the complex and craziness that is John Constantine. Hellblazer being my favorite version of him.. with all the amazing accessories you guys delivered at Mezco it was a blast bringing the character to life in three-dimensional form.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #125 – THEODORE SODCUTTER EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #125 - THEODORE SODCUTTER EDITION

“Theodore Sodcutter rests in this spot. Dug his last grave, and laid down to rot.”

There’s no better place to be on Friday the 13th than Gangreene Estates, the haunted home of horrific happenstance! If you’re unlucky enough to be wandering the ghostly grounds, you may run into the groundskeeper – Theodore Sodcutter! Best to leave him be, his current workload has been murder…

Unearth the haunting happenings at Gangreene Estates with the help of Jona, Jimmy, Michael, Simon, & Michael R!

Name: Jona (@fotoshoof)
Location: Canada
Inspiration: Ever since I was little it was obvious to people that I like creepy things. My first handmade kite had skulls and bats on it. I’d play the Haunted Mansion record in darkness to local kids on a summer’s day. That’s why a bloke, well dressed and all, like Theodore Sodcutter totally resonates with me. Such style, such grace, such a menacing smile! His bold character and design defines where he should be, somewhere at night, under a full moon, in dense fog, on the edges of the Gangreene Estates working his usual mischief. I am a huge fan of playing with light, so this one was quite fun to try out.

Name: Jimmy (@yankee_dawg_photo)
Location: Georgia, US
Inspiration: I absolutely love all the head sculpts Sodcutter comes with, but this one is probably my favorite. I really wanted to take a shot to show it off along with the light up function of the eyes.  It reminds me of a creature that has just transformed and has turned to reveal their new form with a vicious scream/howl to scare their victim. With that thought in my head, I wanted the shot to have a vintage feel to it. I used some lights with warming gels and sprayed some atmosphere to get that mood.

Name: Michael (@insightful_imagery)
Location: California, US
Inspiration: I love figs like “Sodcutter” because of their ability to move my imagination and creativity.  With his glowing lantern I had to put that against a cool backdrop to make it pop for sure.  The wheelbarrow I designed and printed just for Theodore!

Name: Simon (@sime_on_toast)
Location: Texas, US
Inspiration: Theodore Sodcutter is everything I love about 80s and 90s horror. Creepy, intimidating, and over the top. For this image I just imaged him as the local urban legend, stalking the forest and waiting for unsuspecting victims!

Name: Michael R (@grizzly_viking_gorilla)
Location: Ohio, US
Inspiration: My inspiration for the photo was I was listening to Fear Of The Dark by Iron Maiden and in the lyrics it goes when I’m the man walking a dark road I am a man who walks alone. So it really gave me the idea to go for a scary shot of him lurking in the distance with his eyes glowing to show the details of his face. I as well added a little bug landing on his head to just add a bit more to the scene.

Collector Spotlight Vol. 4

Collector Spotlight Vol. 4 - @paper.lens.tech

Welcome back to Collector Spotlight – a regularly irregular interview with a fellow Mezco collector where we pick their brain and find out what’s occupying their shelves.

In this edition of Collector Spotlight, Ashok (@paper.lens.tech) takes us to the Land of 10,000 Lakes (Minnesota, US) to show off his extensive collection. Read on and get to know Ashok!

Q: When did you first start collecting and what was the first figure you remember seeking out?
A: I started collecting when I was around 10. The first figure(s) that I sought out were the Power Rangers.

Q: Who is your favorite superhero?
A: Spider-Man for sure. Be it having trouble paying his rent or not being the most popular guy at school, his way of outmaneuvering his rivals without relying on superhuman strength is a real treat, and one that easily makes him a fan-favorite.

Q: What is your favorite movie of all time
A: Being a Spidey fan, my all time favorite movie(s) would be that of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. They were good comic to movie adaptations. A great superhero movie to lookup to.

Q: What inspired you to start collecting?
A: My passion towards owning a few childhood favorites in physical form.

Q: What inspires your photography?
A: Mostly toy photographers from Instagram and several comic book covers/ movie posters.

Q: How long have you been a toy photographer and what made you start?
A: I have been doing this for over 3 years now. Many talented toy photographers at Instagram made me super inspired to pick up my camera and embark on this journey.

Q: Who are some of your favorite photographers in the collectible community?
A: Some my of favorite photographers are from the Instagram toy community:

  • sgtbananas : He has inspired me the most and I like his way of using practical effects, dioramas and lighting to make realistic story telling scenes.
  • mrleeee : He is one of the most active contributors in the community. His way of bringing out the details and features of each figure is quiet extraordinary.
  • eyeofuatu : He is quiet the masterpiece himself when it comes to his editing skills and making creative works of art with each post.
  • jasonbmichael : His way of making incredible photos with practical effects is a treat to watch in each of his reels and it inspires me to think creatively.

Q: What’s one of your favorite photos you’ve ever taken?
A: My most favorite photo would be that of Holiday Gomez and grub out in the snow enjoying the festive season. It was quiet the challenge for me to create an indoor snow setting accompanied with the right amount of lighting.

Q: What is your favorite aspect of being a collector?
A: As an adult, this is the only hobby that can hit our childhood memories in so many ways. Be it rushing home from work to open the figure to play and pose or scouting around the toy isles of Target/Walmart to grab that one figure I have being wanting so much.

Q: What was your first One:12 Collective figure?
A: My first Mezco One:12 figure was Logan. A perfect creation in figure form.

Q: What is your grail figure?
A: My current grail figure would be the Classic Suit Spider-Man by Hot Toys.

Q: Any advice you’d like to offer to new collectors?
A: Please collect figures that you really want to have and cherish. Don’t accumulate unnecessarily as it will lead to a lot of sacrifices when you really need to get that one thing you always wanted.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #126 – ATTICUS DOOM: NECROVERSE EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #126 - ATTICUS DOOM: NECROVERSE EDITION

Atticus Doom demands the spotlight this week, and who are we to argue with the Necromagus Prime?! Grab your Goblin Shillelagh and take a scroll with us!

A scholar of the strange darkness, wielder of arcane magic, and aligned with the unknown, Atticus transverses between our realm and the Necroverse. Though he may have some questionable agendas, there is no better occult private eye than Rumble Society’s supreme sorcerer!

Scroll on and see how Casey, Ryan, Sonny, Steven and Juan captured Atticus Doom on his otherworldly adventures.

Name: Casey (@donutblock)
Location: Pennsylvania, US
Inspiration: I was inspired by artwork of necromancers, particularly the artwork you see in trading card and tabletop games. My goal was a photo that you could instantly get a feeling for what this character was about even if you had never seen them before.

Name: Ryan (@80sberg)
Location: Tennessee, US
Inspiration: “Atticus Doom and the Necroverse” was what came to mind as soon I opened the box. A Dr. Strange type of character that holds a lot of power in his hands, Atticus Doom uses his magic to navigate the Necroverse and confuse any potential enemy. He also uses his “bag of tricks”to entertain and dazzle crowds.

Name: Sonny (@thesonnychannel)
Location: Texas, US
Inspiration: The claw was one of my favorite accessories with the OG Atticus Doom, and the fact that this one glows makes me think of those deep sea creatures that have bioluminescence so I had to make it the feature for this photo. I also wanted to have Atticus Doom look at it in awe with his one eyeball.

Name: Steven (@toymazingphotos)
Location: Utah, US
Inspiration: Inspiration for this image came from the many accessories that come with both variations of Atticus Doom and accessory pack. When being overwhelmed with all of the accessories and options, the thought came to have Atticus sitting, with his various books of magic around him, trying to reach deep inside him to work magic that he has never felt before. Pools of plasma splashing up from the ground with the Eldritch fx behind him showing the power that he is summoning with the intense glow. In the end, it turned out well. Another image down the line may be another of him in a similar fashion but floating instead of sitting on the ground.

Name: Juan (@jcs.figure.photography)
Location: Florida, US
Inspiration: I was going for a classical portrait vibe with this shot, like something you’d see ornately-framed and hanging above a fireplace in some dark and mysterious manor somewhere with a fun eldritch twist. I thought the previous Atticus Doom had a lot of personality, but the Necroverse Edition blows it out of the water with it’s more dapper style.

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #127 – TOYZ FAIR EDITION

FAN FEATURE FRIDAY #127 - TOYZ FAIR EDITION
#MezcoToyzFair starts NEXT WEEK! We’re days away from games, reveals, and prizes that’ll make your head spin! 😵‍💫This week’s Fan Feature Friday spotlights none other than our past Toy(z) Fair exclusives. Golden heads, super soldiers, and occult private eyes, oh my! This year’s Toyz Fair has a lil something-something for everybody, so be sure to tune in each week! 👀

Scroll on and check out how Timothy, Kris, Darais and Jason are prepping for this year’s Toyz Fair!

If you haven’t already, you can check out our Toyz Fair itinerary here and read about what we’ve got goin’ on throughout February!

Name: Timothy (@roddy81)
Location: Nevada, US
Inspiration: This was one of my first Gomes figures I bought Agent Gomez. Such a cool figure so many accessories he comes with I just pictured him in his secret location planning his next move!

Name: Kris (@optimus.krime)
Location: Canada
Inspiration: Just a simple portrait of this character can speak volumes about his mysterious aura. I absolutely love this original design by Mezco! They knocked it out of the park with this one!

Name: Darais (@d_amazing)
Location: New York, US
Inspiration: For this photo i wanted something to fit the inspiration of bounty Hunter but didn’t know what kind of lighting would really work. I test a lot of like but the perfect tint of purple to contrast the black with that effect to add a pinch of separation really worked here. I’m glad it helped bring Krig 13 to life!

Name: Jason (@jasonbmichael)
Location: Canada
Inspiration: I feel that Atticus Doom is the Doctor Strange of the Rumble Universe, so I wanted to create an image reminiscent of the Astral Push from the Doctor Strange films. In this case, I used The Roach with the Golden Head because Atticus would have felt that he was simply a collection of Mez-itz posing as the real Gomez.

FAN FEAURE FRIDAY #128 – LDD EDITION

FAN FEAURE FRIDAY #128 - LDD EDITION
Some things won’t stay dead…We’re just a few days away from something so exciting for Living Dead Dolls fans, it gives us chills! And in honor of week 2 of Mezco Toyz Fair, we’re giving this week’s spotlight to some of our favorite devilishly dreadful dolls. After all, deader IS better…

A little terror goes a long way, so scroll on and see how Antonio, Christian, Mancie and Carlos captured these cute and creepy corpses!

Be sure to tune into #MezcoToyzFair early next week to catch a glimpse of who wants to play dead!

Name: Antonio (@livingdeaddollspictures)
Location: Chile
Inspiration: There’s a beautiful sentence from one of the death certificates written for a Living Dead Doll —Grace of the Grave— that states: ”If some dolls die, and then come back… Do they find in death, what in life they lacked?”. I like to imagine LDD characters wandering around —like Posey here—, looking for that missing piece, that unfinished business that keeps them undead.

Name: Christian (@nait_sirhc)
Location: Uruguay
Inspiration: The inspiration behind this photography was to mix the darkness with the childhood. Damien is still a child, but a creepy one, so I tried to give him an obscure atmosphere to maintain his essence.

Name: Mancie (@eicnamslivingdeaddolls)
Location: England
Inspiration:  I had been waiting for snow for so long to take photos of this doll! I got her ages ago and always liked to photograph Living Dead Dolls in a setting that matches their backstory, so the second we finally got snow here in London, this was the first thing I did.

Name: Carlos (@delacroixscarlotte)
Location: Spain
Inspiration: Eve’s red eyes reflect hate and rage. When I took this picture (also edited) I wanted to create an atmosphere with red tones and a foggy apocalypse background to make her face more creepy. I do love Eve! 🖤
